Career Pathways Year 12 students are now beginning to utilise the fantastic unifrog platform to help them consider their future career pathways and options available to them. This is a really exciting time whereby they start to consider life after school and what might be the right route for them in the future. Students will likely have lots of questions surrounding careers in chosen fields and possible careers that they didn’t even know existed.
It is always greatly appreciated if staff can take the time to support students with these queries and point them in the right direction for further research etc.
They will be exploring the career pathway platform for the next 6-7 weeks and doing everything from personality tests to next step requirements tasks to help them for the future.
Year 12 Work Experience We have a number of Year 12 students whom have successfully received offers for some great business opportunities such as JP Morgan in the summer as well as during our allocating work experience period in the spring term. Students are going out for one week to gain some life experience in a career that will hopefully help them with their future steps etc.
Year 12 Student Union The Year 12 Student Union meeting is next taking place on February 15th and this is a really wonderful group of young people who are taking initiative and meeting regularly to discuss how they can improve all aspect of Sixth Form life at Highcliffe School. Students will begin planning some spring and summer term events and working towards putting events together to also raise money for the Sixth Form chosen charities.

Year 13 UCAS University application process Huge congratulations to the students in Year 13 who have now all sent their UCAS applications off. They have shown great dedication in selecting universities and writing their personal statements with the support of their tutors, parents, Mrs Chalmers and Mrs Bower. Students are now starting to receive offers back.
Students and their parents should be reminded that they should take their time when accepting and rejecting their offers. Each student has an individual deadline which can be seen on UCAS track. Further advice on responding to offers can be found in the UCAS sharepoint accessed through students’ myhighcliffe.
Year 13 UCAS apprenticeships All students in Year 13 have also been registered for the UCAS Discover Apprenticeships online event on 9th February. The event runs live from 10am to 6pm, but is then available on demand until 23rd February. This event features everything you need to discover if an apprenticeship might be right for you.
Year 13 Leavers events The Year 13 Leavers team have been working hard preparing to launch the Leavers Celebrations. The launch will happen during Monday tutor time and Year 13 students should keep an eye out for an email containing further details. They will also have the opportunity in the coming weeks to have new photos taken for the year book. |
